Life Isn't A Race

The dawn begins its ritual but still the town is in no hurry to emerge out of the blanket of clouds of which it is enveloped. Life should be no different. Life is not a race. Every minute of it should be lived. What is a hurried life if in the end you wish you did not sprint through it but instead took sometime to take off your shoes and experience the feel of the earth under your feet.

Note: To gain a better appreciation of this photo essay, you have to refer to the preceding post. The photos by themselves have stories to tell.

  1. Life is indeed not a race, we shouldn't be just rushing through. We must be enjoying every moments, smelling the roses along the road.

  2. I agree. We should all slow down and take the time to smell the Roses.

  3. That's very true and unfortunately most people don't have the time to realize these things until they retire, at least it was that way with us. There is plenty about life that I'm glad I wasn't too old to understand.

  5. I hope to be reading my book by the end of the year too :) Heh. Though, I work best under pressure.

I wish you the best of luck with yours as well! Here's to our success!

  6. Well said and the photos are beautiful. My husband and I retired early and are enjoying every minute of "smelling the roses." We never know how much time we have and now that responsibilities are fewer our motto is, "It's our time."

  9. This is so true. I often have to remind myself to stop and just be. I love the Creed to live by. I am going to print it and put it at my desk at work!

  10. Yeah! In life, our deeds are measured not in how fast we did it but in how we did it and for what. Great post. Nice Photos!

  11. In the positive psychology movement, there is a principle called savoring. It is akin to mindfulness: being fully present, being in the moment, being grateful for everything that God has made and provided for His creation and His creatures. That's what this post reminds me of.

  12. I totally agree. I want to savour every moment of life and you can't do that when you don't even have time to stop and smell the yellowbells (haha I don't like roses) or appreciate the shapes the clouds make.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures and the thoughts that moved you and inspired you - and all of us who are reading this - as you witness nature's little miracles.
